Save for an isolated shower or thunderstorm this afternoon, we’re likely to stay mainly dry in the majority of our neighborhoods during the better part of the day. Temperatures should reach the low-80s, and it’ll be noticeably humid. The more active area of thunderstorm activity looks to miss our area to the west this afternoon.
Things may turn a bit more active in eastern Ohio this evening and tonight. Still, the evening severe thunderstorm chances here will be highly dependent on whether the atmosphere can recover from storms earlier today.
The NWS Storm Prediction Center continues to highlight eastern Ohio in the Slight Risk category, or a Level 2 on a scale of 1-5, for severe thunderstorms later this evening.

A cluster of thunderstorms known as an MCS (a bowing line of organized thunderstorms) is expected to develop over the Great Lakes early this evening and travel south toward east-central Ohio. This cluster of storms will bring the potential for damaging wind gusts to our area around or after sunset this evening.

As mentioned earlier, how this develops, intensifies, and tracks through the area tonight will depend on how storms play out with any storms that occur this afternoon.
The main severe threat should exit southeast around or shortly after midnight. However, showers and garden-variety thunderstorms could linger into Tuesday morning as the system’s cold front approaches and crosses the region.
Current timing of the cold front favors the front crossing the east-central Ohio region on Tuesday morning. This scenario would preclude daytime temperatures from becoming warm enough to support severe storms redeveloping locally. Today’s guidance, though, keeps Tuesday’s threat of severe storms south and east of our area.

A dry trend with cooler temperatures and less humidity then sets up behind the front through the rest of the work week.

The next opportunity for showers and storms locally arrives over the weekend as the next weather system moves into the region. Current model trends aren’t indicating a severe threat from this next system.
