The current weather pattern we’re experiencing will certainly bring chances for rain at times over the weekend, but it doesn’t look like a washout.
Saturday may start out with a shower or storm as a weak cold front approaches, but the vast majority of our area should see a fairly decent afternoon and early evening. A renegade shower or storm could impact an unlucky few toward mid to late evening. Any activity would be short-lived.
Otherwise, everyone will get in on seasonal temperatures in the mid-80s. It’ll be humid, too, with dew points hovering in the low to mid-70s.
If you’re looking for sunshine, Sunday will be your weekend pick day. But, like Saturday, it’ll be warm and that Florida-like humidity will make it feel sticky out there.
We do want to touch a little bit on next week. While Sunday will bring us a break in the rain and thunderstorm threat, it will be just a brief pause. Model trends have been showing that an increase in storminess will set up early next week. Chances for scattered showers and storms will return to the forecast as early as Monday and continue at least through midweek.
We’ve been lucky so far in not having much of a severe thunderstorm risk. (This is normally the time of the year in our area when the risk for severe storms starts to wind down.) But the outlook looks to favor an uptick on Monday in the potential for stronger storms.
It’s early yet, and the models are working on the timing and other details, so just treat this as a heads-up. Strong wind gusts will likely be the feature to watch out for.
