Posted 9:30 AM Monday, August 31 | A very warm and humid air mass will settle over the east-central Ohio region on Monday which will result in a period of unsettled weather across the area through much of the work week. While the vast majority of the days ahead will be dry, isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms will be a daily possibility as little disturbances travel through the upper-level flow.
The heat and humidity will peak on Wednesday and Thursday as daytime highs reach the low-90s and dew points hover around 70° ahead of a cold front causing heat index values to increase into the mid to upper 90s across most locations.
The potential for strong to severe thunderstorms will also increase late in the day on Wednesday and continue into Thursday, depending on how quickly the slow-moving cold front can slip south through the region. Specifics related to timing and potential severe threats remain uncertain this far out, but late afternoon and evening are probably a good assumption.
Temperatures will return to more seasonal values with much lower humidity behind the late-week cold front on Friday as high pressure builds over the region.
