Updated 5:45 PM 10/08/2026 | Confidence continues to increase that remnant low pressure from whatever is left of Isaias will spread rain into the east-central Ohio region Saturday night into Monday.

The latest forecast from the National Hurricane Center indicates that Isaias will slow it northward advance over the Tennessee Valley Saturday night. Moisture from the system will, however, get picked up by the upper-level flow aloft spreading rainfall far in advance of the center of circulation.

While it is still a little early to get too specific with impacts in our local area, there are a few details that are beginning to come into focus:
RAIN
Widespread rain will likely push into the region south to north Saturday night and continue through the daytime hours before beginning to taper off Sunday night. Most modeling suggests totals in our area running around an inch to two inches. Rain amounts will be dependent on how quickly the system exits eastward Sunday night.

WIND
Winds will turn breezy Saturday night and remain gusty through Monday morning. Gusts are expected to remain below advisory criteria but occasional gusts in the 20 to 30 mph range will be likely. There is a lower, non-zero potential for gusts higher than 40 mph.
LIGHTNING
Some thunder cannot be ruled out, especially during the daytime hours on Sunday. Severe thunderstorms are not likely.
TEMPERATURES
Temperatures will remain seasonably warm through the period with daytime highs in the upper-60s on Sunday. It will be unseasonably humid, however, with dew points running in the mid-60s.
FLASH FLOOD POTENTIAL
Thankfully, it’s been rather dry for several days here and the ground locally should handle the rain without any flooding issues. Some localized flooding may occur since leaves are beginning to fall and may interfere with storm drains and gutters.
MONDAY & TUESDAY
High pressure will visit briefly returning dry weather on Monday. A cold front due to move through the region on Tuesday will return low to moderate chances of showers. Temperatures around the local area will turn cooler on Wednesday behind the front.

GOING FORWARD
Expect some forecast adjustments going forward as more details on the track Isaias comes into better focus during the days ahead.
