The Storm Prediction Center has upgraded our area from Slight Risk (level 2 of 5) to an Enhanced Risk (level 3 of 5) mainly for tonight for severe thunderstorms.
Numerous thunderstorms will be possible this afternoon and evening but these are expected to remain below severe limits. The bigger threat will come tonight as thunderstorms develop near Lake Erie and travel south. These thunderstorms may produce large hail up to 2-inches, damaging straight-line wind, and a few tornadoes.
This is a significant upgrade and should be taken seriously. Nighttime storms are the most dangerous. Have multiple ways to reliably receive updates and warnings that are capable of waking you and your family. Have a family plan of action in place should severe storms impact your location.
- Large hail up to 2″
- Damaging straight-line winds
- Isolated tornadoes
