Weather Service Confirms Two Tornadoes During Storms Tuesday Night

TheNational Weather Service in Cleveland has confirmed two tornadoes that occurred during last night’s severe weather.

The first tornado touched down in Grafton, Ohio (Lorain County) around 11:30 PM Tuesday. This one was an EF1 tornado with estimated winds of 100 MPH and it traveled about 11.5 miles into Medina County before dissipating.

A barn was destroyed in Grafton Township before the tornado proceeded southeast into the town of Medina where it produced extensive damage to trees and power lines.

The second tornado occurred near East Spart, Ohio (Stark County) at 12:22 AM Wednesday. This tornado was classified as an EF0 with maximum winds of 80 MPH. The tornado remained on the ground for 2.33 miles and lifted near the Stark/Tuscarawas County line near RT-800 at 12:30 AM.

Several trees were damaged and uprooted along the tornadoes path. A few trees did fall onto nearby homes and a few homes had minor to moderate roof damage.

No injuries or fatalities were reported in either instance.
