December Snow Anomalies

Posted December 31, 2020

The numbers are in and snowfall for December in eastern Ohio came in well above normal as expected. We received, on average, around 7.8-inches more snow in December than what we normally get in the month for east-central Ohio. A small area around Sugarcreek received a bit more than that – about 8.6-inches.

Snowfall – Departure from normal

If you’re a snow lover, northeast and eastern Ohio were THE places to be for snowfall during December. Northwest Ohio counties saw below-normal snowfall.

We did of course have a blanket of snow for Christmas morning – a rare occurrence in our area.

Normally, our total snowfall for December is about 5-inches at New Philadelphia.
