The image shown below from the hi-res model shows the line of severe thunderstorms forecast to move across Ohio later tonight. The simulation begins at 8:00 PM this evening and runs until 2:00 AM Monday morning. Each frame is one (1) hour.
This model has been fairly consistent in this general timing for the last several runs. Based on this, the best time of seeing severe thunderstorms in our area is between 9pm and 1am tonight.
You will also notice that tonight’s storms show a weakening trend as they progress through eastern Ohio. While this weakening trend is likely, thunderstorms tonight will still have the potential to bring high wind gusts. To a lesser extent, isolated instances of small, and large hail as well as tornadoes are also possible.
Be safe out there, folks. – Joe
