Low pressure will pass west to east this evening and tonight just to the south of the Tuscarawas Valley. This system will spread snow showers into the Valley later this evening. Snow showers should taper off tonight and end after midnight.
We can expect snowfall to begin in the New Phila area around or shortly after 4 PM late this afternoon. The best opportunity for the heaviest snowfall will be between 7 PM and 10 PM tonight. Snow should taper off after ten and end around midnight. Isolated snow flurries will be possible through Saturday morning.
The heart of the system will be centered along or just south of I-70 so our southern communities (those south of New Phila) will have better odds of seeing snow amounts on the higher side, while areas north of New Phila likely get a little less snowfall. Generally, we can expect an inch or two of snow across the Tuscarawas Valley area by early Saturday morning.
Temperatures across the area will be at or near freezing by sunset this evening cooling to the mid-20s by midnight. Snowfall rates could be moderate at times, especially this evening.
Expect slick spots – especially on untreated roads and elevated surfaces – if you plan to be out and about tonight. Periods of moderate snowfall may cause visibility problems.
Saturday will remain cold with afternoon highs in the upper-20s to near 30° so don’t expect to see much melting. Cloudy skies will gradually clear enough to allow for SOME sun in the afternoon. With a west wind around 10-15 mph, expect wind chills in the mid-teens tomorrow.
Sunday will bring a sunnier but breezy day with afternoon highs near 40°. Southwest winds may gust to around 30 mph at times.
