A storm system will track eastward south of the Tuscarawas Valley tonight into Tuesday morning. Initially, this system will bring light rain to our local area tonight. The rain will transition to wet snow showers around or slightly after midnight. Total snow accumulation in our area will be light with total snowfall amounting to less than an inch.
Main roads and highways should remain mainly wet for the Tuesday morning commute. Untreated roads could have slushy snow and slick spots, however. The bulk of the snow will accumulate mainly on grassy areas and elevated surfaces.
Breezy northerly winds will accompany tonight’s snow showers with occasional wind gusts 25-28 mph. Those will die down as the snow showers exit the area just before sunrise Tuesday. Winds will remain breezy through the day, however.
Our next chance for a snow/rain event may come on Thursday with a passing clipper-type system. This one will likely start out as snow showers Thursday morning before transitioning to rain in the afternoon. At this time snow impacts from this system are expected to be minimal.
