Shower and thunderstorm chances will increase west to east this afternoon and evening as a cold front approaches eastern Ohio. Thunderstorms later today will have the potential of producing damaging wind gusts and large hail. There is also a low-end risk of an isolated tornado.
Generally speaking, the overall risk of severe storms in our area is fairly low.
TIMING IN OUR AREA
Most of the day today will be dry and warm with afternoon highs in the low to mid-70s. Clouds will gradually increase as the day progresses. Thunderstorms developing this afternoon in western Ohio will travel east. While the threat for severe storms is higher to our west, these are expected to weaken as they make their way into eastern Ohio. The best opportunity for thunderstorms in our area will be between 5:00 pm and 9:00 pm.
While thunderstorms will remain a possibility through the nighttime hours, the risk for severe storms will generally decrease as instability wanes.
FRIDAY
Showers, and maybe some thunder, will gradually diminish through Friday afternoon as a cold front meanders north to south. It’ll be a slow-mover. Dry weather along with cooler temperatures will return on Saturday.
I’ll post any updates through the day if and when they become available. Again, this is a low-end severe risk for later today. Stay safe, my friends.
