Once this mid-level disturbance moves east of the Valley Friday morning, our weather should generally turn a bit more pleasant. As clouds clear Friday, we’ll see dry conditions and sunshine breaking out for Friday afternoon and evening.
Saturday looks benign, although we will see high-level clouds increasing throughout the day. Temperatures will also likely warm to the low-40s for the daytime high on Saturday.
Our next round of troubling weather arrives Sunday morning. Weak low pressure will move into the Great Lakes region late Saturday night into Sunday. The models have just recently started to come to a better agreement that rain could begin spreading into the east-central Ohio region Sunday morning. With temperatures near the surface expected to be at or near freezing, there is the potential for a period of freezing rain early on Sunday morning.
Timing the arrival of rain will be an important factor. Road surfaces are likely to be freezing before sunrise Sunday morning. After sunrise roads will have a better chance of being warmer. Tree limbs and branches, however, are likely to be more reliant on air temperature.
As of Friday morning, this is a feature we’ll be monitoring closely. I just wanted to give folks an early heads-up of the potential for freezing rain on Sunday morning. It all boils down to timing. We’ll just have to wait and see how this plays out in the model runs today and Saturday. I’ll keep you posted.
