An unseasonably warm and humid airmass will allow for the development of scattered thunderstorms in our area ahead of a cold front on Sunday afternoon/evening.
A few thunderstorms may become strong to severe. Strong wind gusts are the main concern. Heavy downpours are also possible anytime late Saturday night into Sunday regardless of any thunderstorm activity.
The Storm Prediction Center has all of the east-central Ohio region highlighted in the Marginal Risk (Level 1 on a scale of 1-5) for severe thunderstorms on Sunday. A Marginal Risk means that there is lower confidence in severe storms occurring.
While winds will be gusty throughout the day on Sunday, any thunderstorms that develop later in the day can pull stronger gusts aloft down to the surface. As of Saturday morning, the best opportunity for any strong to severe storms in our area is between 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm.
LATER IN THE WEEK
Much colder air will flow into the region to start the new year. It will be quite some time before we see temperatures in the upper 50s to 60° again.
Thanks for the heads-up for storms tomorrow. We don’t need severe weather, but I do enjoy today’s weather so far. Appreciate your meteorological expertise, Joe!
