Storms This Evening Could Contain Strong Wind, Hail, and Heavy Downpours

Probabilities of thunderstorms will increase through the afternoon and peak early this evening across our area. Some storms could be severe with strong gusty wind and hail. Storms later today will also be capable of heavy rainfall.

The NWS Storm Prediction Center has placed all of the east-central Ohio region, including Tuscarawas County, under a Level 2 – Slight Risk of severe storms developing later today.

We can expect scattered thunderstorms to begin popping up and moving into our area from the south anytime after 2:00 PM. Thunderstorms will remain a possibility until midnight. Peak timing for severe storms impacting our area is between 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM. Chances of severe storms will gradually decrease after sunset, but the threat of non-severe thunderstorms will continue until midnight.

Simulated FutureCast Radar at 6:00 PM. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be around. Some storms could be severe.

Any storms today will be capable of heavy downpours. Those areas that happen to see multiple rounds of thunderstorms could experience local flooding issues.

Periodic showers and thunderstorms will remain in the forecast through Tuesday. These are not expected to be severe. We should begin to dry out some on Wednesday.
