A Couple of Showers Creep Into Our Local Forecast; A Quick Check of the Labor Day Weekend

So far, August has been very stingy concerning rain, and we could use a good soaking at this point. While the majority of our weather will be rain-free over the next seven days, we will see a couple of opportunities for a little rain. It won’t amount to much, though.

Much like yesterday, cooler air at the surface flowing from north to south will pick up moisture off of the relatively warm water of the Great Lakes. The results will be increasing cumulus clouds and the potential of a brief isolated shower in a few spots this afternoon and evening.

After a dry and sun-filled day on Wednesday, our next best chance of receiving rain will arrive on Thursday as a reinforcing cold front drops south through the region. The day will start out just fine, but clouds will increase during the morning with chances of scattered showers arriving in the afternoon and evening as the front travels across the area.

Again, don’t expect a lot of rain out of this. Your odds of getting any rain will be better the farther north you’re located.

European Model: rain totals through Thursday.

Temperatures locally on Friday will take a hit behind the front. Most locations will struggle to reach the low-70s on Friday. Temperatures on Friday night will dip down to the mid-40s. The last time we’ve been that chilly overnight here was back in early June.

LABOR DAY WEEKEND
Although it’s a little early to get into the fine details, so far the weather looks good here for the holiday weekend. High pressure will likely bring fair weather conditions. Temperatures look to remain below average during the period, with a slight warming trend getting underway through early next week.
