A winter storm system will spread snow showers across the east-central Ohio region tonight into Tuesday morning. This won’t be the biggest storm of the season, but it will come at a time that will impact the Tuesday morning commute to work and school.
Temperatures during the event will remain cold enough in our area that precipitation will fall as all snow. (No freezing rain, sleet, or rain with this one.)
LOCAL TIMING
Snow showers will begin to spread west to east into the Tuscarawas Valley area between 12:00 AM and 2:00 AM. Snow showers will continue fairly steady through 7:00 AM/9:00 AM before tapering off and ending around 11:00 AM.
LOCAL AMOUNTS
This is not a lake-effect snow event, so every community will receive approximately the same amount of snow. As a general rule, expect around 3 inches of snow from this system in any one location across our area.
LOCAL IMPACTS
The timing of the storm will bring travel impacts to our area for the Tuesday morning commute. Expect snow-covered roads and slick spots – especially on secondary roads.
Dry weather and chilly temperatures are expected Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday. A reinforcing cold front will bring low-end chances (20%/30%) of additional light snow Wednesday night/Thursday. Moisture seems very limited, so we’re not expecting much, if any, additional accumulation at this point.
Temperatures will continue to trend colder than average through the end of the work week before moderating somewhat over the weekend.
