Monday 6:00 PM Local Snow Updates and Changes

Slight changes to the track of our storm system today make it necessary to make a few changes to the forecast. We’re still expecting steady snow to begin spreading west to east across the Tuscarawas Valley area between 12:00 AM and 2:00 AM tonight. (Some light snow/flurries may occur before the steadiest snowfall arrives.)

Snow accumulation amounts in our area have shifted upward slightly. Confidence remains high that the general sweet spot for our area is 3 inches, maybe 3.5 inches. As a general rule, most communities in the Tuscarawas Valley area will end up with pretty much the same amount of snow.

Snowfall rates near one inch per hour can occur – especially from 4:00 AM – 7:00 AM. Temperatures will be cold enough through the period where this all falls as snow. (We will not get into any freezing rain, ice, or rain.) We also increased the odds slightly for the possibility of 4 inches of snow due to a change in snow density. The snow now looks to be more typical – not really wet and not really dry, with snow to liquid ratios of around 10:1/12:1.

Local impacts to the Tuesday morning commute remain the same. Expect snow-covered roads, sidewalks, and walkways. Secondary roads will naturally be more of a challenge than our main highways.

Unless there are major changes, this will probably be the last update. For background information, please see the previous forecast posted earlier today by tapping the link below. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for our area from 12:00 AM to 1:00 PM EST 12/02/2025.

    1. Snow forcasts are usually built around a snow to liquid ratio of 10:1, which means one-inch of liquid water produces 10-inches of snow. This ratio is generally considered “typical” snow.
