The first really good chance for measurable rain in quite some time locally will arrive on Thursday with the approach and crossing of a cold front. The most likely time in our area is between 6 AM and 2 PM. A gusty thunderstorm can’t be ruled out during the afternoon.
Rainfall amounts across the Tuscarawas Valley area are expected to be between a quarter and a half-inch.

Showers will likely taper off and end Thursday evening and overnight as the front exits south of the region. (Recent model trends have sped up the front a bit, so maybe drier sooner?) A second reinforcing cold front may generate some additional showers Friday night into early Saturday morning. Dry conditions are expected to return on Saturday and Sunday, although temperatures will be cooler.
The last time we received any substantial rain in the east-central Ohio region was August 19-20. The total amount of rain in our area for the month of August amounted to 0.32 inches – well below the 3.65 inches of rain we would normally expect.
After a cooler-than-normal weekend and Monday, temperatures will moderate next week without much in the way of additional rain chances.
