High pressure situated off to our east will bring a couple of mild spring-like days to the Tuscarawas Valley today and Saturday. Daytime highs will warm to the mid-50s under a nearly cloudless sky.
A quick-hitting little clipper will drag a cold front through eastern Ohio Saturday night. Current hi-res modelling suggests limited moisture could result in a few sprinkles shortly after sunset Saturday evening, before temperatures cool enough for a changeover to flurries or light snow.

The snow won’t amount to much more than a dusting, perhaps a half inch, in our area before drier air moves in from the west early Sunday morning.
Although the snow will clear out quickly and skies will gradually allow for sunshine to return, temperatures will be quite a bit cooler with daytime highs running in the mid 30s.

There has been a lot of speculation regarding the next storm system that will move into the Ohio Valley Sunday night into Monday. While the model runs over the last 24 hours continue to advertise a winter system impacting the east-central Ohio region, the model trends favor a weaker system setting up south of our area.

At this point, the most likely scenario could bring maybe an inch or two of snow to the region Sunday night into Monday morning. And, those amounts could trend lower with future model runs in the coming days.

Regardless of any snow accumulation through Monday morning, there is a consistent signal that temperatures will shift drastically warmer beginning on Tuesday of next week. The warming trend may continue into mid-March under a persistent southwest flow.

The warmth will come with a price, however. Shower and thunderstorm chances due to numerous disturbances in the west may lead to the potential of heavy rainfall and a higher than zero risk of strong to severe thunderstorms.
We’ll continue to monitor the model trends over the weekend. Look for updated snow maps on Saturday and Sunday mornings as the early week system continues to develop. There will likely be changes in the expected snow amounts, but this doesn’t look to be anything more than a low-impact weather event in our area.
Thanks for tuning in and checking out our area’s only local weather resource. Have a great weekend!
