Wednesday’s local rain chances and the snow and cold coming our way

Posted Tuesday PM March 30, 2021

I just wanted to get a quick update out on the rain, snow, and cold we’re expecting the next couple of days.

Rain showers will move in overnight as a sharp cold front advances into east-central Ohio. Current guidance shows rain getting underway locally at around 2:00 AM or so. Rain will continue into the morning commute.

The frontal boundary will not cross our area until 8:00/9:00 AM. Temperatures ahead of the front will be in the 50s then quickly cool to the upper 40s by lunch time. Rain will taper off behind the front and we shouldn’t expect much during the afternoon. Temperatures could creep back up to the low-50s depending if we get a few breaks of sun.

Rain chances will begin to increase again locally in the evening. As temperatures drop to the 30s overnight some wet snow will likely mix in before sunrise Thursday. This will likely bring little if any impact to the Thursday morning commute.

Wet snow showers will continue through Thursday. Much of the snowfall will melt but grassy areas could see a coating and you may have to brush some snow off of your vehicles. I’m not expecting any travel issues.

The real impact will come from cold temperatures. Thursday will be a cold and blustry day. Temperatures won’t warm much more than freezing. And, a breezy northwest wind will bring wind chills in the low-20s. That’s going to be hard to handle since we just had afternoon highs in the low-70s today.

This mess will all push off to the east Thursday afternoon and high pressure will return the sunshine for Friday. Friday will still be chilly despite the sunshine with afternoon highs in the low-40s. A warmup will get underway Saturday and Easter Sunday is still looking like a beautiful sunny spring day in the Valley.

Thanks for reading this quick update and relying on TUSCWeather for your local weather. Be safe out there.
