Radar returns this morning show areas of snow showers slipping south into the Tuscarawas Valley. Some of these indicate pockets of briefly heavier snow showers that can impact visibility and put down a quick dusting in spots. Overall accumulation locally won’t amount to much due to the warm ground and higher sun angle.
Occasional snow showers interspaced by a few breaks of sun now and then will continue through most of the day. Surface winds may turn a little breezy as higher winds aloft mix down to the surface in those pockets of snow. Chances for snow will taper off towards evening ending overnight as high pressure builds over the region.
As for temperatures today, it will be cold for early April. Normally we would expect to see afternoon highs in the upper-50s but we only see daytime highs this afternoon in the mid-30s.
FRIDAY AND THE WEEKEND
Bright sunshine will return for Friday as high pressure builds in over eastern Ohio. It will still be a chilly day for early April with daytime highs only getting up to the low-40s. With mostly clear skies in place, Friday evening temperatures will quickly cool to the mid 20s Friday night.
Saturday will bring a southerly component to the mid-level flow. After a cold start, temperatures will warm to the mid-50s as warmer air begins to move into the region. Some clouds will build in the late afternoon as an upper-level disturbance clips the area but otherwise it will be a bright spring day.
Fair weather and a warming trend continues on Easter under a dome of high pressure aloft. Expect brilliant sun and afternoon temperatures in the mid-60s locally.
High pressure at thee surface and a ridge aloft should keep fair weather going locally through Monday. Thereafter, the forecast becomes a little iffy due to model differences. Low pressure may travel southeast from the western lakes forcing a cold front south into the Ohio Valley. This will likely bring increased cloud cover to the area Tuesday and Wednesday and maybe the possibility for showers and storms.
With regard to temperatures, however, warmth seems to dominate through the first half of the week before a cold front shaves temperatures back a handful of degrees to end the work week.
