The warmest part of the day will be in the morning. A cold front moving across the area will being decreasing temperatures through the afternoon. In addition, west winds will pick up with gusts in the 25-30 mph range becoming likely this afternoon. Wind gusts will begin to subside after midnight.
An upper-level disturbance will cross the region late this afternoon that could bring bands of heavier snow showers and squalls. Quick snow accumulation and reductions in visibility can occur in these squalls.

Timing locally is from around 4:00 PM to 7:00 pm later today. This could present some problems during the evening commute.

Snow accumulation across the area won’t amount to much – most likely a dusting to a half-inch. Higher amounts are possible in any isolated areas that end up with a random snow squall.
Snow showers will push out of the area after 8:00 PM. Winds will remain gusty until after midnight.
High pressure will bring a mostly sunny Valentine’s Day but temperatures won’t warm much topping out around 30° late in the afternoon. The potential for snow showers returns Friday night after midnight as the next storm system approaches.
