Hot and Humid Weather Returns

Hot temperatures and humid conditions will return to the Tuscarawas Valley on Wednesday. Locally, we can expect daytime highs in the upper 80s to low-90s over the next seven days. And, it won’t cool off much more than the low-70s at night.

If you factor in the rising dew points, heat indices are likely to range from 95° to 100° during peak heating in the afternoon and early evening.

This really isn’t unusual for the latter part of July in east-central Ohio. It gets very warm and humid during the summer around here, and ninety-degree days with tropical humidity are pretty much routine summer weather.

There won’t be much of a chance for a cooling shower or storm either. Wednesday and Thursday look dry. Chances of scattered showers and possibly some thunderstorms increase on Friday with the arrival of a weak front that may develop and move through the region. Some modeling suggests the front may linger nearby, which would keep the threat of an occasional shower or storm in the afternoon/evening going through the weekend.

GFS Model: The next best chance for rain is on Friday with a weak cold front.

Above-normal temperatures are likely to stick around into the first half of next week. A pattern change may enter the picture midweek next week and bring our daytime highs down to slightly below average to wrap up July.

Otherwise, plan on typical summertime hot and humid conditions with a few rounds of showers and storms for the next handful of days. Stay cool as best as you can.
