A cold front will slide south through east-central Ohio this afternoon will bring a welcome break in the humidity to start the work week.
A few gusty thunderstorms and pockets of heavy rainfall may accompany the cold front. Better odds of severe storms today should set up south of I-70.

Once the front clears south of the Valley this evening, cooler and drier air will flow into the region overnight as high pressure builds overhead. We can expect fair weather and much less humidity to settle overhead for a couple of days.
Unfortunately, it won’t last long. An upper-level ridge of high pressure over the Midwest will expand eastward on Wednesday. Hot and humid conditions will likely ramp up for the second half of the week.

The combination of soaring temperatures and the increase in humidity will push heat index values into the upper 90s to around 100°. So far, Thursday looks like the hottest day of the week.
The heat and humidity will cause an unstable atmosphere and a daily chance of afternoon scattered showers and thunderstorms developing. Longer-range models suggest an uptick in severe storm potential as well.
Above-average temperatures are favored to continue through the end of the month.
