Breezy Wind on Monday with a Cold Front

Generally, quiet weather conditions can be expected on Sunday and Sunday night; however, a rather vigorous upper-level trough will push a weak cold front across eastern Ohio on Monday.

The front will have little impact on temperatures as it travels across the region. It will, however, bring windy conditions mainly through the midday hours. Southwest winds will gradually pick up during the morning, becoming 10 to 15 mph by lunchtime. Peak gusts of 20 to 25 mph are likely between 12:00 and 4:00 PM in our area. The wind will subside after sunset.

National Blend of Models: Wind gusts at 1:00 pm Monday.

There is not much moisture for the front to work with, so rain isn’t likely here. The bulk of precipitation will likely occur well north and east of our location.

Other than some gusty wind, Monday is shaping up to be a fair weather day with daytime highs in the upper-50s locally.

High pressure will bring another mostly sunny day on Tuesday with highs around 60°. Our next chance of any rain in our area will arrive late Wednesday with another weak cold front. This one will also have limited moisture to tap into, and any rainfall that might fall will be light.

As for temperatures this week, computer guidance shows that we here in the Tuscarawas Valley area should maintain daytime highs hovering near normal values. The two warmest days, Wednesday and Friday, and due to warmer air moving in ahead of our two frontal systems.

The latest model runs are beginning to indicate a fairly potent cold front late in the week, which may bring likely rain chances to east-central Ohio. There is considerable uncertainty at this point, so we’ll just have to wait and see how this plays out for now. The current guidance does, however, suggest that temperatures will turn considerably cooler next week.
