Several Rain Chances this Week; Colder Air Arrives Over the Weekend

High pressure will build into the region Monday night and remain the dominant weather feature in our area through Tuesday night. Breezy west winds will gradually decrease as the night progresses. Fair weather with seasonal temperatures is expected on Tuesday through Wednesday morning.

Another cold front will track across eastern Ohio on Wednesday afternoon/evening. This system will also find limited moisture to work with. However, an isolated instance of light rain/sprinkles can’t be completely ruled out. Any rain locally would be very light, and the bulk of measurable rainfall should keep well to our north and east.

National Blend of Models: Rain amounts through Wednesday.

As it was with Monday’s front, southwest winds will also turn gusty Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday night. Gusts locally will generally run in the 20 to 30 mph range before decreasing Wednesday night. Daytime highs on Wednesday afternoon will likely climb to the mid-60s ahead of the front.

Fair weather will return on Thursday as high pressure builds over the Great Lakes. That will bring us sunshine with daytime temperatures returning to the mid-50s.

FRIDAY THROUGH THE WEEKEND
Model guidance indicates that a more unsettled weather pattern may develop over the weekend and continue into early next week. Several opportunities for rain will be likely – especially on Friday.

While inconsistencies with timing exist this far out, a storm system is set to track across the upper Great Lakes region on Friday, trailing yet another cold front. This one looks to pack a bit of a punch and will likely spread rain showers across the region. Another storm system is expected to develop late in the weekend, which will help maintain the threat of showers on Saturday night and Sunday. A stretch of generally colder temperatures is then likely to follow for much of next week.

I really hate typing this, but this weekend’s cold front will bring the coldest temperatures of the season so far. Any rain showers that develop Sunday night into early Monday could mix with or transition to snow.
