Valley Weather Update: Lake Effect Snow Bands and Cold Temperatures Today

Widespread snow has exited the east-central Ohio region pretty much as expected. Some locations may receive a quick half an inch or so of additional snow through today as random lake effect bands travel southeastward.

As with all lake-effect snow events here, folks in communities north of New Philadelphia are more likely to receive these random bands of snow than those south. Otherwise, we can expect anything from a few flurries to an additional light snow shower through the day…. or maybe nothing at all.

Updated 6:10 PM Sunday

Our temperatures today will remain very cold with daytime highs only reaching the mid-teens. A breezy northwest wind will keep wind chill values below zero this morning. Those wind chills won’t get out of the single digits this afternoon. Temperatures will remain 15° to 20° below normal tonight and Monday.

Another clipper system will move across the Great Lakes region on Monday afternoon. Snow showers from this system should stay north of the Valley. Locations in the primary and secondary snow belt counties could get an inch or two of new snow. But again, we’re not expecting any snow from this on Monday.

The snow won’t stick around long, though. Temperatures will trend warmer beginning mid-week. Friday will bring a cold day, but after that, temperatures are expected to remain above average as we approach Christmas.
