June-like Temperatures with Daily Shower and Storm Chances; Strong Storms are Possible on Tuesday

A stalled front across Lake Erie will set up a persistent southerly flow across the east-central Ohio region for much of the week. Temperatures will likely push into the upper-70s and low-80s, and with the warm temperatures and increasing humid conditions, the atmosphere will become increasingly unstable. This opens the window for daily shower and/or thunderstorm chances as a series of disturbances ride along the stalled boundary to our north.

It will even feel a little humid through the first part of the week with dew points in the low-60s.

While most of the thunderstorms should remain sub-severe, instability will be unusually high on Tuesday and any thunderstorms on Tuesday afternoon and evening could produce strong wind gusts and hail. The Storm Prediction Center has placed our area in a low-end risk for severe thunderstorms on Tuesday – mainly for the potential for damaging straight-line wind gusts.

SPC Day2 Outlook

As of Monday morning, there remains uncertainty in thunderstorm evolution and timing, but any time during the mid-afternoon and evening would bring weather conditions with the highest chance of storms to be strong to severe.
