After a simply wonderful Saturday, Sunday’s weather won’t be quite as nice as a second reinforcing cold front approaches the region. Showers and storms in the morning will bring increased humidity, as well as a low risk of strong thunderstorms Sunday afternoon.

Thunderstorms during the mid-afternoon may produce damaging wind gusts and possibly small hail. While it’s a very low threat, an isolated tornado can’t be completely ruled out.
As of Saturday morning, confidence in severe storms on Sunday is fairly low and hinders on the timing of the cold front. An earlier arrival of the front would lessen the risk of severe weather.
The threat of severe storms will end later Sunday evening as the front exits southwest of the area. A much cooler and drier air mass will push in behind the front, allowing for below-normal (but still warm) temperatures to start the workweek.
