The latest forecast modeling suggests that a line of thunderstorms may develop in western Ohio Sunday afternoon. These storms are expected to move east into eastern Ohio by Sunday evening. Current model trends are showing an increase in the probability that storms Sunday evening through Sunday night could reach severe criteria in eastern Ohio.
The Storm Prediction Center has placed our area in the “Slight Risk” category (level 2 on a scale of 1-5) for severe thunderstorms Sunday evening.
The main threat is damaging wind gusts of 55 mph or greater. There is also a low chance of large hail. The threat of tornadoes is low to very low – but not zero. The line is expected to slowly diminish in intensity as it makes its way further eastward.
Caveats include the extent of elevated instability, the timing of thunderstorm passage, and whether any thunderstorms earlier in the day can alter storm development or the path of storms later in the day/night.
With recent swings in high-resolution modeling, this remains an uncertain severe weather risk that bears monitoring as we get closer to tomorrow evening.
Changes in the forecast are likely. I’ll post an update early Sunday morning with the latest information for our area.
On the weather channel app I have, it says likely for severe storms with tornado threat, hail and wind. I go by that all the time. I live in Lima Allen County. Maybe y’all should download the weather channel app. They’re never wrong.
My weather discussion is not relative to Lima, Ohio. Lima is well off to the west of our area and the threat for severe weather is higher west of of the area I discuss. Maybe ya’all should learn how to read a map.
As always, thanks for your diligence in monitoring the weather & giving the heads-up!
You’re welcome! Just doing my think to help where I can.
