Now that a colder airmass has settled over east-central Ohio, we can expect below-normal temperatures for much of this week. That will bring frost and freeze concerns to the Valley as rain chances diminish and clouds begin to thin out toward midweek.
Cloud cover and a light NW breeze will alleviate frost formation tonight except for the deeper valleys and traditional cold spots. Frost formation on Tuesday night will depend on whether we manage to see showers dissipating and clouds clearing.
The greatest potential for a frost/freeze will arrive Wednesday night as high pressure begins to build in over eastern Ohio, allowing temperatures to approach or reach freezing.
Should we realize any widespread frost or freeze it would mean the end of this year’s growing season. If you plan on extending the life of any outdoor plants pay heed to any frost/freeze headlines that may be issued this week.
