High pressure over the Mid-Atlantic and New England will set the stage for a southerly flow and a warm front lifting through east-central Ohio later this evening and early tonight. Clouds will increase late this afternoon into the evening as the front approaches. The odds are low (10%-15%) but there could be sprinkles/light rain in some neighborhoods mainly along and north of New Phila.
Generally speaking, high temperatures locally on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (Halloween) will likely run 15° – 20° above normal behind this warm front. Record high temperatures will be in jeopardy all three days.
The current forecast and record highs for New Philadelphia are…
- TUE 10/29: 77° (76° 2016)
- WED 10/30: 79° (77° 2019)
- THU 10/31 77° (77° 1971)
A cold front will advance eastward from the Midwest and arrive in our area Thursday afternoon. Showers are likely along the front as it crosses the region. Although temperatures will be warm for trick-or-treaters Thursday evening, light rain showers are a good possibility. Current model solutions indicate that total rainfall should run around a quarter of an inch.
Showers should end Thursday night as the front shifts out of the region. Cloud cover will be slow to thin but skies will gradually improve through Friday afternoon as high pressure once again builds over eastern Ohio. Dry weather and seasonal temperatures will continue through Saturday.
