Monday Morning Winter Storm Update

At 9:00 am this morning, the center of low pressure was analyzed to be located just south of the West Virginia/Virginia border. It will continue traveling east toward the Atlantic today and tonight. A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 7:00 pm.

We can expect cold temperatures and brisk northerly winds for much of today along with the occasional snow shower. Some of today’s snow bands could produce moderate to heavy bursts of snow. Another inch or two of additional snow is possible.

Scattered snow showers should end tonight. With winds shifting out of the northwest tonight and Tuesday, isolated lake-enhanced snow showers remain a possibility through Tuesday.

With cold temperatures and a gusty north wind, windchill values will hover in the mid-teens this afternoon. While temperatures won’t be extremely cold the rest of the week, they will stay well below freezing so the snow will stick around for some time.

Our local weather will become fairly uneventful on Wednesday and Thursday. Daytime highs are forecast in the low-20s with nighttime temperatures in the single digits.

Mid-range modeling suggests there can be another large-scale storm system that could bring another round of impactful snow to our area on Saturday. As one would expect, confidence in the track of this system is very low at this point. Stay tuned.

Thanks for choosing TUSCWeather for your local weather. Be safe out there!
