We’ll wrap up February with a sunny and very mild Saturday ahead of a quick-hitting clipper system that spreads a wintry mix and some light snow accumulation late Saturday night into Sunday morning.
Generally, overnight temperatures should support mainly snow showers across our area, but there is a potential for slightly warmer air mixing into this system at the mid-levels, which could also allow rain or even some freezing rain.

Snow amounts will vary depending on whether your neighborhood ends up getting precipitation types other than snow. Even in a worst-case scenario, the snow won’t add up to much. However, even a brief period of freezing rain in any one location would raise concerns of slick spots on area roads.
Hi-resolution modeling brings this through the Tuscarawas Valley after midnight tonight. The system then exits before dawn on Sunday morning.

Sunday will start out cloudy, but skies will gradually clear through the day, setting up a much cooler but sunnier afternoon. Daytime highs on Sunday will struggle to reach the mid-30s with a cold northerly breeze.
ABOUT THAT SUNDAY NIGHT SYSTEM
Recent model runs continue to push the second system Sunday night farther south to the point that we can eliminate any wintry impacts in our area from this one. Temperatures will still get cold – mid to upper teens – but the system has trended well to the south and a miss for our area.

NEXT WEEK
A warmer and wetter weather pattern is expected to set up on Tuesday and continue through next week. Temperatures on Tuesday are likely to reach the low-50s and continue an upward trend to the mid-60s by Thursday and mid to upper 60s on Friday.

The warmth will, unfortunately, be accompanied by rounds of rain. While it’s a stretch to get into specifics at this point, the evolving pattern could result in periods of heavy rainfall and flooding issues. And, it’s not out of the question that some strong or even severe storms could occur at some point next week.

Thank you for taking a few minutes to catch up with our local weather. Have a great weekend.
