A warm front will lift north and travel through east-central Ohio this morning. By the afternoon, we’ll be firmly in the warm sector, and temperatures locally will warm to the low-80s. The record high today in New Phila is 80° (1963), so there is a good chance of making a new record high for today’s date.
While chances are slight, a brief shower or thunderstorm is possible this afternoon in the very warm, increasingly unstable atmosphere.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected later today and tonight along and ahead of a strong cold front. Severe thunderstorms and isolated flash flooding will be possible. There is a Slight Risk (Level 2 out of 5) of severe thunderstorms across the entire area. The primary threat will be damaging wind gusts, though a tornado or two cannot be completely ruled out.

The highest risk of any severe storms in and around our area is between 7:00 PM and 11:00 PM this evening. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will likely continue overnight, but the risk of severe storms is much lower after 11:00 PM.

In addition to the severe storm threat, any showers and thunderstorms that occur overnight will be capable of producing heavy rainfall. Areas that have already received plentiful rain recently could see localized flooding.
Temperatures on Easter Sunday will be roughly 30° cooler than those on Saturday, with daytime highs topping out around 50°. After some early-morning showers, expect improving and dry conditions through the rest of the day as high pressure builds into the region.

A cooler and much less active period is likely through mid-week next week
