Mainly dry weather is expected to continue Thursday evening through Friday morning across the Tuscarawas Valley area. However, a disturbance is forecast to develop over the Mississippi River Valley tonight (Thursday night) and move into the Ohio River Valley by Friday morning.
Moderate to heavy rain showers are expected as a warm front associated with the disturbance moves through the east-central Ohio region late Friday into Saturday. Current hi-res model guidance indicates the heaviest band of rainfall will likely set up across portions of central and east-central Ohio.

Probabilities of rainfall of an inch or more across our area Friday night into Saturday morning are running high (about 70%). This could lead to some localized high-water issues on area roads and low-lying areas, as well as rising water and flow levels in area creeks and streams. Widespread flooding issues, however, remain very low.
Drier air is forecast to advance into the region behind the warm front, reducing the intensity of rainfall in the area Saturday afternoon.
The overall weather pattern for the long holiday weekend hasn’t changed. (See the previous post linked below for details.) We’re still expecting additional bouts of showers and thunderstorms to persist through the weekend and into early next week as additional disturbances travel south to north through the region.
