Dry weather and mild temperatures continue on Monday. Skies will be partly sunny, and daytime highs will reach the low to mid-60s. Temperatures will remain in the 60s on Tuesday and Wednesday. However, light rain showers are likely on Tuesday with a warm front.
Then, our weather takes a nosedive as a strong storm system moves out of the Midwest and into the Great Lakes region. The system will bring a colder regime and several opportunities for varying precipitation types to east-central Ohio over the next several days.
As of Monday morning, there remains some model disagreement regarding the strength and timing of the low pressure system. Confidence is fairly high though that the system will bring much colder air, several rounds of precipitation, and gusty wind to east-central Ohio Wednesday and into the upcoming weekend.
Of course with the temperatures turning colder, snow possibilities must be considered. This will likely bring the first snowflakes of the season to the Tuscarawas Valley – perhaps as early as Wednesday night. Details as to how much needs to be worked out but much will depend on the temperature profile and timing of precipitation.
The best timing of snow in our area as of Monday is shown in the above graphic. Note that this is likely to change as our computer models fine-tune things over time. My main objective here is just to make folks aware.
With the data we have at this point, the main precipitation type with the storm is likely to be rain. Snow showers should have little impact on local travel in our area. Road surfaces are still relatively warm which would mean mainly wet roads. Also, snow is likely to be mixed with rain at times. Snow could accumulate on your vehicle and elevated surfaces on Wednesday and Thursday nights.
As for wind, most of the modeling supports gusts under Advisory criteria (45mph). Max gusts could reach 30mph at times Thursday through Saturday.
The main takeaway here is that a stark pattern change is likely in the latter part of the week. Temperatures will turn colder and we’ll see several rounds of precipitation of varying types. Details will get ironed out with future model runs and forecasts will get refined over the next few days.

I like this site..Thanks.
I’m having a hard time reading your blog. It is on a dark background with dark print. Is there something I need to do on my phone? Thank you!
Hi Kay… Sorry. That was my fault. I forgot a step. The text should be much easier to read now. Thank you for bringing it to my attention – Joe
